What to check at the viewing.

The report shows the history found for the VIN. At the viewing you confirm the car's current condition and compare the information with what you see.

Where the data comes from →
  • Match the VIN on the car and in the papers

On the windscreen, on the door pillar sticker and in field E of the registration document. All three must match the VIN in the report.

  • Check the damaged areas from the report

Look for different paint shades, uneven panel gaps and replaced parts in exactly the areas the report marks.

  • Test drive and diagnostics

The current state of the engine, gearbox and brakes is something you confirm behind the wheel and at a garage with a diagnostic tool.

VIN check questions.
What buyers want to know before their first check.
The VIN (vehicle identification number, also called the chassis number) is the 17-character code the manufacturer gives every car. You find it in field E of the registration document, at the base of the windscreen and on the body. Unlike the number plate, it does not change when the car moves to another country.
The car's make, model and year, so you can confirm it is the car in the ad. You only pay if you want the full history report.
Every section we find data for: mileage, damage from several countries, service history, theft check, Romanian ITP inspection for cars registered in Romania, estimated market value, technical data, factory equipment, emissions, a timeline and photos from past listings, when they exist.
Usually a few minutes. The report stays in your account for 30 days. You can download it as a PDF or send it to someone with a link.
That no records exist for that part of the history in the sources we checked. The data available differs from car to car and from country to country, so you fill that gap with paperwork and an inspection.
No, you need the VIN. The number plate changes on import or re-registration, while the VIN stays the same. Ask the seller for it or read it from the windscreen.
Yes. All you need is the VIN. The history from the country of origin stays linked to the VIN after the car is exported.
